Two Wells Primary School Newsletter- Term 2, Week 1 2024.
Leadership welcome
"You're off to great places - today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so... get on your way" - Dr. Suess
Welcome back for term 2 of the school year. We hope you had a well-rested break, and are ready to commence our learning for this term.
This term, our staff had the opportunity to participate in "The Zones of Regulation" training. This comprehensive program will be implemented across our entire school, that empowers all students to recognise their emotions, understand which zone they are in, and employ effective strategies for self-regulation.
We are privileged to collaborate closely with the esteemed Regulation Team from the Department of Education on this initiative. The Zones of Regulation is Curriculum designed to foster self-regulation. You may have even heard your child talk about The Zones already. The lessons and activities of 'The Zones of Regulation' have been meticulously crafted by Leah Kuypers, a licensed Occupational Therapist renowned for her expertise in self-regulation. This curriculum is designed to equip children with essential self-regulation skills, which can be referred to as self-control, self-management, or impulse control.
The lessons and learning activities are designed to help students recognize when they are in different Zones and learn how to use strategies to change or stay in the zone they are in. In addition to addressing self-regulation, students will gain an increased vocabulary of emotional terms, skills in reading other people's facial expressions, perspective about how others see and react to their behaviour, insight into events that trigger their behaviour, calming and alerting strategies, and problem-solving skills.
Kind Regards,
Leadership Team

Darrell Avery (Deputy Principal)

SAPSASA - District Day
"An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body" - George S. Patton
A number of our Year 4-6 students were nominated to participate in the Sapsasa Gawler Athletics District Day Carnival on Thursday 11th April at Trinity College. Our students competed against 13 other schools in our district.
Emphasis for the carnival is on participation for as many students as possible, and the identification of students displaying greatest aptitude in each event to enable the selection of a Gawler District team to participate in the Country Championship. Unfortunately, we did not make the team, but our students had a magnificent day and represented us in an exemplary manner throughout.
Students participated in 100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m. High jump, Long Jump and Discus events.

TWPS Volunteering
"All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them" - Magic Johnson
Do you have some free time? Would you like to volunteer at school?
The first Volunteer session for this year was held on Monday 8th April with our new Governing Council members.
The volunteers were given an insight into volunteering in the school and the benefits of Volunteering both to them and the students. It was an informal gathering where, after the short presentation volunteers were able to log in and start completing the training modules relevant to them.
The next proposed session will be at the beginning of term 2 with the date to be confirmed, but we have had a request to run it on a Saturday to cater for working parents. If this sounds of interest to you, contact us through the contact details on the flyer - We'd LOVE to see you there!
Recess and Lunch clubs
TWPS have started recess and lunch clubs! Students will have the oppurtunity to attend during break times to immerse themselves in various clubs.
We have:
- Dance & Creativity Club
- Team Games Club
- Minecraft Club
Upon reflection of our new and improved school values - Compassion, growth mindset, respect and courage, we have created an exclusive club to celebrate making A choices and demonstrating our school values within our school. For our Minecraft club, classroom teachers will select one student from each class twice a week to attend in reward for their success.
We hope to see many of our students attend these clubs! See you there.
Premier's Reading Challenge
"Reading is a passport to countless adventures" - Mary Pope Osborne
As we commence term 2, we have started our Premier's Reading Challenge. The Premier’s Reading Challenge is a literacy engagement program that was introduced by the Premier in 2004 to:
- Encourage students to read more books and enjoy reading
- Improve literacy levels.
This challenge targets and promotes reading development within schools as students have the oppurtunity to select books to read within their school or home libraries.
Reception to year 6 students will read 8 books from the Premier’s Reading Challenge booklist and 4 personal choice books and log them into their students reading record. students will need to get their books signed off by an adult/teacher/librarian to verify it.
At the end of the challenge, students will hand in their records and will recieve an award for their efforts.
We look foward to seeing how many books our students can read throughout the year - which class do you think will read the most? Let's find out!

Staff car park
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are sending out a gentle reminder that our staff/disabled carpark is a NO ENTRY zone - unless you have permission from admin. Otherwise, only staff, buses and disability parking permit holders are to enter. We please ask that no parents are entering to drop off/ pick up their child, unless they require a disabled space.
We have had two unfortunate incidients where a staff's car has been damaged from another. As a school community, we need to ensure we are looking after students, families, staff and ourselves. We are here to support you, and most importatly - keep you safe.
If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.
