Welcome from our Leaders
Dear families,
We would like to start by thanking all families and the wider community for the support that has been shown in ensuring the students are thriving and prospering through their learning and achievement since the start of the year.
We would like to make a special mention to our new Reception students and families and commend you on how well you have settled into TWPS, its a huge part of life when your child starts their school journey and it's been a real pleasure seeing how well all of our new students have and are continuing to settle in.
We have had a fabulous term with embedding our routines and Ready to Learn program in our classrooms. We have had a busy term focusing on regulation and meeting the learning needs of every student at TWPS.
This term has focused on reading fluency and consistency with embedding the Department Literacy Guarantee Unit phonics instructional routine in our literacy blocks.
TWPS has been largely focusing on the infrastructure and implementation of Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL), TWPS has committed to providing multiple levels of intervention and support through Interoception Room (The Zone) Kitchen and Gardening Group, Speech and Language Intervention, Zones of Regulation and the social, emotional learning capabilities. We have evidenced through data analysis that with the introduction of PBL we have started to see a decrease in behaviour call outs and an increase in students being able to regulate and articulate their own emotions.
DATA: 2023 Term 1 PBL Data - 1540 accessing support / 2024 Term 1 PBL Data - 303 accessing support
Thank you to all staff that have invested in PBL and providing the students with opportunities to develop their social and emotional capabilities/Literacy. TWPS are excited to continue this journey in term 2 and beyond. Term 2 we have committed to further professional development in the 'Zones of Regulation' which will allow us to go wider and deeper in our understanding so that ultimately the students benefit.
I would like to congratulate Tegan Pehnall on securing a SSO Learning Support position at TWPS for the remainder of the year, Vanessa Chomik will continue to in the SSO learning support team during term 2 and finally congratulations to Laura Nichols that won the SSO Positive Behaviours for Learning role for 2024.
We look forward to term 2 and beyond, working along side staff and the community to ensure we continue to build a positive culture and environment for the students to thrive, prosper and grow as effective learners with equity and excellence.
We acknowledge during term 1 we have had to deal with challenges regarding student conflict, racism and bullying, it's our commitment that we address these areas to support the community so that we all feel safe and valued. We will continue to educate through the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum, enhance our Social and Emotional Learning Groups, Provide external workshops through BULLYZERO for parents and students that will provide us with a deeper understanding. We take this very serious and encourage the community to support us in ensuring we continue to build a harmonious community.
Please keep a look out for our parents and friends groups that are taking place again next term, these programs are vital in building that strong and high performing community, thank you to Beck Mather-Brown, Maria Woodland and Angela Moore that have been a driving force this term in building those connections.
We wish everyone a safe, restful and fun school holiday.

Harmony Day
E V E R Y B O D Y B E L O N G S
On Thursday the 21st of March we celebrated our annual Harmony Day! The day was certainly filled with fun, laughs and loads of compassion, which is one of our new school values!
In the morning all our families came together as they entered the school to place what their culture or country of birth is against our world map. What a great way this was to discover the cultural diversity present within our school!
We came together to have a shared picnic on the oval for lunch, and then went out and flew our kites that were made individually. Overall, it was a successful day for all.
Kids in the Kitchen at TWPS
"Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It's about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity." - Guy Fieri
To kick off 2024 we have implemented Kitchen groups led by our Positive Behaviour for Learning Team. The aim of this is to give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in collaborative learning based tasks that support emotional regulation, social skills, resilience and our learning development.
Throughout various aspects of these tasks, students have been able to develop our new school values - Growth Mindset, Compassion, Respect of Others and Courage. Our goal is to create and develop empathetic and informed students that can apply learnt skills and strategies to overcome their obstacles in life.
This term students have learnt many transferrable skills in the kitchen.
These include:
- Safe chopping, peeling and grating using the bridge and claw technique.
- How to read a recipe.
- Table etiquette.
- Exploration & tasting of new foods.
- Following processes & proceedures in the kitchen.
- Benefits of Healthy Eating.
- Reflective practices/self assessment.
Students were highly engaged and thoroughly enjoyed this program - A big well done to all involved!!! We can't wait for next term.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

TWPS Volunteering
"All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them" - Magic Johnson
Do you have some free time? Would you like to volunteer at school?
The first Volunteer session for this year was held on Monday 8th April with our new Governing Council members.
The volunteers were given an insight into volunteering in the school and the benefits of Volunteering both to them and the students. It was an informal gathering where, after the short presentation volunteers were able to log in and start completing the training modules relevant to them.
The next proposed session will be at the beginning of term 2 with the date to be confirmed, but we have had a request to run it on a Saturday to cater for working parents. If this sounds of interest to you, contact us through the contact deatils on the flyer - We'd LOVE to see you there!
Staff/Disabled Car Park Reminders
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We are sending out a gentle reminder that our staff/disabled carpark is a NO ENTRY zone - only allowing staff, buses and disability parking permit holders to enter. We please ask that no parents are entering to drop off/ pick up their child, unless they require a disabled space. We have families with children that require those spaces at drop off/ pick up times, so please be understanding of this.
As a school community, we need to ensure we are looking after students, families, staff and ourselves. We are here to support you, and most importatly - keep you safe.
If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Medications at school
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Here at TWPS, our number 1 priority is keeping our students safe and comfortable during their time at school.
We have an efficient and precise routine/schedule that our staff and students follow with administering medications. We take the utmost pride in ensuring our students recieve the support they need during this process, as duty of care is something we as staff are responsible for.
If your child requires any medication throughout the school day PLEASE contact us to ensure we are notified/aware, and can monitor this for the students, parents/caregivers and staff.
If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to contact us - we are here to support you.
