Principal's Welcome to Term 2

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to Term 2! I hope you all had a restful break and are ready for an exciting term ahead. We have a busy schedule with many enriching activities planned for our students.
We are delighted to welcome several new staff members to Two Wells Primary School:
Deb Paget joins us as the Leader in Charge of Curriculum and pedagogy; her expertise will be invaluable in enhancing our educational programs.
Deb brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our school. With years of experience in complex schools, she has developed a deep understanding of complex and challenging educational environments. Her commitment to creating safe and supportive learning spaces, where all children can thrive, aligns perfectly with our school's values and our work as a leadership team.
We also welcomed Claire Adams the new Room 7 teacher and Vixima Pachini the new Room 19 teacher. Both teachers have been welcomed additions to our Two Wells team.
Additionally, we welcome new support staff members Karen Bentley, Teagan Cooper, Lilly Stiles, and Jaida Woods. We know our wonderful community will make these staff members feel welcome and supported.
In addition to the kitchen program that will once again be supporting learning outcomes for students this term, we also have some other important events scheduled.
Our year 6 students attended their aquatics program in week 2, this is always a highlight on the calendar for our graduating class, thank you to Mr Ferris, Mr Dawber and Vanessa Chomik for supporting students on the day. The students enjoyed learning new skills, many of them trying activities such as kayaking, surfing and sailing for the first time.
In Week 2, students had the opportunity to attend the Mother's Day stall, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to our parent helpers for their dedication and support in making this event a success. We are thrilled to welcome Paul Rutter, a renowned artist, who will be visiting on Friday, 23 May. Paul will be engaging with students in creative workshops, inspiring them to explore their artistic talents. From 27 May, we will be celebrating Reconciliation Week, a significant time for our school community to reflect on and celebrate the rich history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This term staff have begun diligently preparing Term 2 reports, which will be distributed in Week 10. These reports provide valuable insights into your child's progress and achievements. Staff are also working to phase in the Positive Behaviour for Learning program. This initiative will contribute to our aim to foster a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
We look forward to a productive and enjoyable term.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
Kind Regards,
Kirsty Brumby, Darrell Avery & Deb Paget

Room 10 & 14 Buddy reading
Our upper primary students have had the opportunity to share the joy of reading with our receptions through buddy reading!
For our reception students, buddy reading helps build early literacy skills in a fun, low-pressure environment. Listening to fluent reading models supports their understanding of how books work—tone, pace, and expression—and gives them the chance to talk about the stories they hear. The encouragement from their older peers boosts their confidence and helps foster a lifelong love of reading.
For our Year 4/5 students, the benefits are just as powerful. Reading aloud regularly improves their fluency, phrasing, and comprehension. They also develop leadership and communication skills as they learn to engage younger students, ask questions about the text, and respond to their buddy’s ideas. Explaining unfamiliar words or summarising stories deepens their own understanding and reinforces key reading strategies.

Room 2 & 13 Aquatics Day
Year 6 Students in Room 2 and 13 went to West Lakes for Aquatics. It was a fantastic day with all the students participating and engaging in all of the activities.
Students spent the day having a go with canoeing, kayaking, sailing and surfing. There were lots of great examples of teamwork, support and putting themselves out of their comfort zone.
We're very proud of all of them!
Well done!

A glimpse into Room 13
Room 13 have been lucky to have access to a set of Drones for this term.
We will be integrating these into our Maths learning this term with Measurement. We have already had a little test run with them.
Looking forward to lots of fun and learning!

Walk safely to school day
Two Wells primary students will take part in the National Walk Safely to School Day 2025 on Friday 16 May.
Now in its 26th year, the annual campaign encourages all primary school children, their parents and carers to walk safely and regularly to school. Walking to school is a great way to incorporate physical activity into a daily routine to support healthy development.

Recess and Lunchtime activities
Miss Tegan will be running activities out of the library again this term for alternate recess and lunch times. All students are welcome to visit the library during these times and join in with some fun activities.
The past 3 weeks, students have been busting out their best dance moves during Just Dance and singing at the tops of their lungs during karaoke.
Those that enjoy a quieter time, come in on Monday for the open library where they can read books, colour in or complete puzzles. On Wednesdays for crafts; students have been making rainbows, cactus plants and Mother's Day cards.
Fridays get competitive with a range of board games. Students love playing games like Uno, Guess who? Monopoly, Jenga and many others.
