Two Wells Primary School Newsletter- Term 3, Week 10.
Principal Welcome
Dear Families,
I would like to congratulate and welcome Kirsty Brumby to the Two Wells Community. I will be leaving Two Wells Primary School at the end of the year and I am looking forward to gardening and some travel.
It has been a pleasure to work with Staff, Governing Council and Community to support the school with significant changes over the last five and a half years. It has been exciting to work with Governing Council to Champion a new School for our growing community to offer a quality learning environment for children in the state sector. We will be working with the wider community to share the designs for the new school very soon, we are grateful for the designs prepared by Architects Wiltshire Swain and the ongoing support of facilities within our Department. I know Kirsty has the passion, enthusiasm and experience to ensure our students have facilities which support engagement and inclusion.
I do hope you have an amazing and safe holiday, I will be working on staffing and the budget for next year, can you please ensure our office is informed if your child/children do not require a space next year, we are building some walls to ensure we have enough teaching spaces in 2025, parents in Kulwinder and Amies classrooms will see the changes when we return in term 4.
Warm regards,
Rosie Gilsenan-Reed
Principal Position Announcement
Deputy Principal Welcome
Dear Families,
I would like to firstly congratulate all students for completing yet another term of school, we have seen amazing growth and improvement in our REC students who have settled into TWPS beautifully. Our JP students have been working extremely hard within their phonics Literacy Guarantee Units (LGU), Social emotional learning (Ready to Learn Plans) and we are now starting to see achievement through the learning with students being able to thrive and prosper.
Middle and Upper primary school have also been working through LGU Units (morphology) and their social emotional learning curriculum through Kitchen, Gardening groups and SEL classes. We are excited to have our kitchen space renovated which will allow our students and community the opportunity to further develop SEL and practical skills. Watch this space!
Thank you Trish (Business Manager) Rosie GR (Principal) Charmaine and Michelle for all the work you have put into ensuring the vision of Kitchen and Garden group with a focus of SEL is going to develop and allow our students and community to create Learner agency and Equity and excellence.
As you know this year we embarked on the journey of Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL), Restorative approaches and the Zones of regulation which all link and under pin a solid foundation of being able to support students to be 'Ready to Learn'. We will continue to collect PBL data so that we can show growth and impact, I look forward to sharing this data with you.
I would like to make a special mention for our Student Leadership Team and the work that Beck has done to create a strong student leadership presence within the school community. I can't wait for what term 4 will bring, I hear there's something big coming.
Last but no means least, a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff at TWPS, you have persevered, adapted and shown huge amounts of resilience throughout the term and with that I sincerely thank you all for ensuring our students have had the opportunity to continue with their learning.
I wish all the community a safe and fun break with your children and staff ensure you rest, enact some self care and of course have fun. I'll be taking the caravan to the beach with my wife and two wonderful little girls to exercise some fun and relax time.
Stay safe everyone and I look forward to seeing you all again in term 4.
Regards,
Darrell Avery
Curriculum & Pedagogy Message
We've had a fabulous term filled with exciting events, celebrations, and fun! We completed PAT testing, held assemblies with awards and certificates, and conducted Year 1 Phonics Screening Checks. We practised evacuation drills, enjoyed a Pupil Free Day focused on Trauma Informed practices, and appreciated our School Closure. We celebrated Father's Day with gift buying, enjoyed Book Week and Special Person’s Day.
The list keeps going! A huge thank you to our staff, volunteers, and families for their willingness to go above and beyond and always do whatever is necessary to support our students' success.
Zones of Regulation Practices
Our strong commitment to wellbeing led to the creation of a Regulation Champions Team at TWPS. This team continues to implemented a whole-school approach to emotional regulation using the Zones of Regulation strategy, fostering a consistent and supportive environment. By engaging families, staff, and external agencies, the team has fostered a community-wide commitment to emotional regulation and safety. I would like to congratulate all staff for their ongoing commitment and dedication in embedding the Zones of Regulation at TWPS.

Premier's Reading Challenge
We are pleased to announce the conclusion of the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) for this year, accompanied by some impressive statistics. In 2023, our completion rate stood at 42.2% across the site. However, this year, we have achieved an outstanding 85.9% completion rate, reflecting a remarkable 103.5% increase in participation.
This significant accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our students, as well as the invaluable support from parents and staff. Such progress underscores our collective effort to cultivate a passion and enjoyment for reading within our school and community. We take great pride in our students’ achievements and look forward to continuing to inspire them in their literary pursuits.
Well done to the incredible efforts from our students, you should feel very proud.
PE News
We were successful in securing our 2nd grant this year. This allowed our students the opportunity to participate in the Sporting Schools program again. The grant for Sporting Schools Program was delivered free to help our students build their confidence, soccer skills and capabilities to support being active for life.
Most particularly, our senior students love their soccer, so it was most fitting to have FOOTBALL AUSTRALIA coach the program. All students across the 8 classes experienced 4 coaching sessions over a 4-week period which concluded this week.
We thank Eduardo Carlos de Rocha and Jacob Wickman for their valuable contribution in delivering an engaging soccer program.
